In 1996 Bob Dole lost his bid for president to incumbent president Bill Clinton. His entire campaign, if that is the appropriate term for it, was weak and lacked any inclination to fight and damage Clinton, who had had numerous 'women' problems. Senator Dole ran a lack-luster campaign and was soundly beaten by the vicious Clinton forces (James Carville and company). Dole's moderate advisors must have gotten Teddy Roosevelt's message wrong and advised Dole to 'speak softly and carrying a little stick.'

Speaking of 'little stick,' all those free samples Bob received from sponsoring Viagra commercials did nothing to make him more 'manly.' He is still meek and timid when it comes to dealing with democratic candidates who are hell bent on defeating conservative republicans at any cost.

Check out Bob Dole's message today to Florida republican primary voters: "If Gingrich is the nominee, it will have an adverse impact on Republican candidates running for county, state, and federal offices." This is an astonishing admission that republican congressmen and other national republican office holders are only interested in maintaining their cushiony, perpetual political lifestyles. Dole, in effect is saying "don't rock the boat by electing Newt, for if you do, the impending embarrassment will jeopardize your jobs." Once again the republican electorate is having their candidate selected for them by the elite media and equally elite republican moderates.

Bob Dole once made a Pepsi commercial where he is watching a Britney Spears video in the dark and says "easy, boy" to his dog. Maybe voters should say the same thing to themselves before taking Dole's advice.
